A REALITY!
Again the market for pony cars has heated up. With Fords release of the
newly restyled Mustang, requests for the older studs in the stable has
increased. Not only are the 65-70 fastbacks still in demand, their late 80s
colts, especially 5.0 Notchbacks are becoming a hot commodity at the
right price.
Several classic muscle cars that had taken the back seat compared to
the front running Chevelles and camaros are starting to gain in value
much faster that other cars of the era. The Nova, the Monte Carlo, and the
later 1974-1981 Camaros are starting to gain major ground. Any of these
overlooked muscle cars are starting to give a much higher return than
previously thought. If you can find a well optioned or a low mile car they
are almost guaranteed to bring a great return after only a few years. Not
only that, but they perform almost or as well as the popular models.
Personally i would take a 68 Nova to a Chevelle or an 81 Z28 to a 69-73 in
an instant. Maybe its a personal choice, but there is allot of bang for the
buck just barley outside the mainstream of popular muscle cars
The Mopar market is as strong as ever thanks to Dalmer/Chrysler's
renewed interest in the HEMI marketing strategy. Another boost from the
Dukes Of Hazard movie has boosted the price of Dodge Chargers once
again. The future looks bright for investors looking for a car to restore.
Chargers still seem to be the best car for the money, but most mopars
will not steer you wrong (at least after you fix all the bushings in the front
end). Word is the value of the Gen-Lee clones is on the decline, with only
one much hated dealer still trying to get top dollar for poorly restored
versions claiming to be the "WB supplier" for the movie and still trying to
get every last cent. The new charger is often looked down upon by tried
and true Charger nuts, but now the new word on the street is a HEMI
powered 2 door rear drive Cuda for 2007. From my contacts in the
industry it sounds as if it will have retro styling similar to what the ford
boys did with the new mustang. The latest word is that it will very closely
match the so-called "spy photos" to a T. Stay tuned!
European buyers cashing in on the weak US Dollar and are getting
classic and muscle cars by the shipload......that is after much hassle,
waiting and aggravation. Thanks to all the Scams on the net, many buyers
are not taken seriously or have to spend extra time and money to get their
